Aloha from the North Shore!

This is right outside our condo! Brings a tear to your eye!

We arrived safely after a smooth flight on Wednesday, June 11 and our Nuvi guided us flawlessly to Costco in Waipio, and then on to our condo at Turtle Bay on the North Shore of Oahu. The property is somewhat dated, but comfotable and so much better than staying in a tiny hotel room in Honolulu. It is more laid back and peaceful up here, with near empty beaches every couple of miles in either direction. Unbelieveable!! What a change from NM! From brown, dry & 10% humidity to GREEN, water everywhere & ~100% humidity. It is a nice change.

Brian's foot and ankle are healing nicely and he is training lightly on it with his team (10-12am daily) before the tournament begins. Hopefully he will be full strength by Monday when play begins! Maddie and I have been the explorers while Brain is training. We scout out the spots that we want to revisit when Brian is done with practice. The arch is at Lihue Point and the beach is Malaekahana State Park...we are going to swim to the small island in the distance during low tide (~500 yds offshore) The surf was pretty rough at this beach...Maddie and I tried boogie boarding unsuccessfully here, but had fun in the waves nonetheless (sand in all cracks and cevasses!) In the afternoon, we all went snorkelling at Shark's Cove and experienced some fabulous sealife. The kids got to swim with a sea turtle their very first time out! Maddie was strong and did well even in deeper water. We even saw many of the colorful state fish...Humuhumunukunukuapuaa!

Today we are looking for a hard to find bay where they shot some scenes from the TV show 'Lost' (which Brian andI love, there are quite a few sites around Oahu where they did filming), and going to a beach called 'Pounders' to try our hand at boogie boarding again. Trying to take full avantage of our time here in Paradise! More later from today's adventures!
