NM Gladiators 5 - NV Premier 0

This game unfolded much like the last...awhile to settle, 1-0 at halftime, 5-0 at full time. It was a 2pm game and we were extremely thankful for cloud cover and rain showers to keep things cool. NV was a small but very dirty team...cheap shots all game long that the less-than-capable referee deemed to let go (afraid to call or just inept) Brian got in in the second half and played the last 20 minutes to test out his ankles. He was still a bit shaky, but it will probably take a few games to build confidence in his stability after such a long time off (and get used to playing with both ankles taped up tight). It was just good to see him get a run out before the more intense games coming down the road. Mentally it was good for him to get out there and mix it up.

This win should get us out of bracket in first place (we need to tie or win tomorrow vs OR), for a quarter-final showdown with one of two very tough opponents, the WA or CA-S state champs, on Friday. Thursday is a day off (play day for Maddie & I), training and recovery for Brian. The boys are playing well as a team, and that is their strength and must continue if they hope to achieve their goal of going to Nationals!! We will see how it all plays out...fingers crossed. I will try to update again tomorrow after the 10am game vs OR. Aloha for today!
